The last two years have been a big learning curve for us with regards to this theme. Since withdrawing from our once beloved Christian assembly (church) we as a family have been forced for the time being to be independent here in this part of Spain – as far as direct fellowship is concerned. Of course there are other “Christian groups” around, but many of them are deceived and compromise in one way or another. This might sound rather harsh, but after losing more and more of our friends to the stranglehold of the devil through false church systems – I can no longer just sit back and hope/pray for the best. Please allow me to explain.

Recently I have felt almost compelled to ponder deeply the following question:

Can we be kept safe from being sucked into the false doctrines and teachings that are so prevalent in these last days?

The answer is of course a resounding YES I believe we can! But TAKE HEED Jesus says very emphatically throughout the Bible!! With a little personal input please allow me to explain in detail:

1 John 4:4-6 - Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. They are of the world: therefore speak they of the world, and the world heareth them. We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.

This theme is very close to my heart. After having been in a solid Christian assembly (church) for nearly 30 years – where we received good wholesome teaching for the most part (less so in the latter years). Care for people and remaining unspotted by the world (separated) was important. Due to excessive control from the leadership – and lack of vision and life in the same leaders, we strongly believe that God wanted us to leave. The founding and senior pastor (and others) had a spirit of control and virtually no room was left for the individuals to be led by God’s Holy Spirit.

The church had lost its way and those in charge were not approachable enough (prideful) to see or accept that the vision was lost. In a nutshell our church had strayed well away from the example/model seen in The Book of Acts in the Bible. They had become far too focussed on buying church properties and “making the people work” and obey them in charge. Looking back we now see how scriptures were often purposely twisted and manipulated to hold people in the organisation – through fear and thus creating a false loyalty to man and NOT to God.

The emphasis was more and more on working physically at the properties or doing endless administration, thus little time was left to seek the Lord and get out and preach the Gospel. A “system” had been created and the simplicity we once had was well and truly lost – so God led us out to “go it alone” for a while. We were not rebels, but we were branded as such and even named as “wolves” (which was a blatant lie and rather convenient as it gave the leaders a perfect excuse to remove me from all authority). We were shunned by nearly all remaining members and overnight we lost ALL of our beloved friends of nearly 30 years.

We were alone in Spain – we may have felt rather abandoned had it not been for the obvious hand of God in our lives. God led us “back to the basics” and to start reading the Bible as “little children” again. We searched for other “like-minded” churches in Valencia and further afield. This is where we were appalled as we came to the stark realisation that MANY so called Christian churches were actually far from being Christian.

No matter where we looked we found false teachers…

All the local churches we looked at were not biblically based… some were way off the track. We were also dismayed to find that an enormous amount of preachers on the internet were false and it seemed the larger the church, the more they were corrupt and built upon false doctrines or led by false preachers/prophets (false Christs).

One of these modern churches was an organisation led by a man called Ken Legg – an Australian who is a FALSE TEACHER and a deceiver of many. He is a gifted speaker and comes across as very compassionate and genuine. I have no doubt that he is a genuinely a warm hearted guy, someone who can easily win people’s trust.

He is not only deceiving those in his church “Set Free Ministries” or “New Beginnings Christian Church” in Australia, but all around the world, since his messages are beamed over the internet (youtube, etc). He comes under the umbrella of the so called “Hypergrace Movement” – which is growing rapidly all around the world. It is deadly dangerous church – where his wife Marianne is his co-pastor.

I was in fact nearly duped into Ken Legg’s false teaching in a most subtle way. It happened shortly after we left our previously mentioned church. One of the things we came to realise was, that we had often lacked over the years - God’s loving grace. Regrettably in our previous church this was not taught and certainly was for the most part not lived out amongst one another. Some of KL’s sermons were given to me on a USB stick by a well-meaning brother in the Lord. I am always cautious of “new preachers” – and at first I didn’t really like what Ken was saying, but one day (I was driving long distance for my work and listening to the USB stick) he said something which rang a chord with me and I concluded that in fact he must be okay after all.

I resolved that I would buy some of KL’s books – to learn more on this “grace of God” subject, which I was longing for. With hindsight I now realise that I was very naïve and simply then put KL in the category in my mind as “approved.” Now as time went on and I listened to several more of his sermons I gradually found myself prepared to accept that the “once saved always saved” doctrine might indeed actually be the truth. This teaching is almost standard with many of the so called “grace preachers.” It was subtle… and crept up on me by degrees, so I almost didn’t realise it was happening. I even started sounding this of my family – kind of “testing the waters” to see what they would say. My wife Sandra was actually concerned and was not at all comfortable…, but she didn’t say too much.

Two weeks or so went by and one evening I received a sudden phone call from a very dear friend and brother in Christ who had picked up that I was starting to get deeper into KL’s teaching. My friend who lives in Australia called me in the middle of the night (his time) and expressed in a very sincere manner that God had alerted him to my impending danger regarding this very un-Biblical teaching. The call hit me hard, because IMMEDIATELY as we spoke I knew he was speaking the truth. I considered the fact that it was not necessarily easy for him to warn me of this – but in spite of this he risked our friendship to speak the truth plainly to me. Faithful indeed are “the wounds of a friend”…

Prov 27:6 - Faithful are the wounds of a friend; but the kisses of an enemy are deceitful.

The very next day I destroyed ALL my Ken Legg sermons and material. The penny had dropped and the real point is this - the devil doesn’t come showing his horns and a pointed tail, breathing out sulphurous fumes. NO, no, no (he is too clever)… and neither do his planted “false teachers” show their agendas too early (most have an agenda, but some may be deceived themselves). The cunning part is that the “poison” is well concealed amongst truth and sound doctrine. For example if you wanted to poison a dog – you would not just give him straight poison,  because he would likely smell that it was awful and he would instinctively reject it – a wiser way would be for you to put a little poison inside a nice juicy piece of meat and let the dog enjoy that (which he would gladly devour) and then slowly die!

Now I know that much of what Ken Legg says is TRUTH and perhaps even up to 80%, but it is that last 20% that will kill and destroy the Christian. That is the deadly part and for that reason we are to be EXTREMELY careful. The “Hypergrace Movement” is also known as, “Eternal Security” or “Once Saved Always Saved”… and it is growing rapidly throughout the world – in almost epidemic like proportions. Be WARNED – many have been deceived. Do your own research and work out your own salvation the Bible says with “Fear and Trembling” – Phil 2:12!

My story continues…

A month or two later we had a lovely Christian family visit us here at home and lived with us for a week. We had recently been re-united and our friendship went back many years (a more loving and Godly family one would struggle to find). The fellowship was beautiful and very blessed. However, some things they said troubled me a little and they spoke about certain preachers that had/were inspiring them – they mentioned a man called Andrew Wommack amongst others. Wommack was yet another man who had some EXCELLENT Bible study teachings and an amazing healing ministry, BUT his teachings are laced with “poison” (ie: false unbiblical teachings) and therefore we have come to expose him as a “false teacher.”

That night I went to bed… and in the middle of the night (4am to be precise) God woke me up and spoke to my spirit. He actually showed me to open my Bible in Matthew 24 – which I did and specifically to look at the following verse(s). My eyes nearly popped out of my head as I knew immediately that this warning was for my friends, BUT also for me (and my family). Please pay attention to the parts I have made bold:

Matt 24:24 - For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.

The very elect were even in danger of being tricked - how powerful and clear… I then read the chapter from the beginning and again was stunned at the CLARITY of God’s warning!

Matt 24:3-5 - And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world? And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you. For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.

It was suddenly so crystal clear… that we are NOW in the last days... and living out this very scenario! It was NO COINCIDENCE that the very first answer to the question from Jesus’ disciples was a powerful and EXPLICIT warning!! Namely, that “MANY will come” and “SHALL deceive MANY.” It could not be more explicit - what a clear statement - let us never in our lives again be flippant or casual about whom we listen to – no matter how lovely and “blessed” their message might appear.

Needless to say - the very next morning I passed this specifically on to my friends. Thankfully they did seem to listen and I can only trust (and pray) that such a powerful warning will never be forgotten and as a result will cause great Godly Fear in all of us. This ought to permanently keep us in a state of sobriety and vigilance regarding the “false preachers” and so called “false christs” who have and will continue to arise in these last days!

Instinctively my desire to study the subject and warn ALL my Christian friends and others wanting to follow the ways of Christ grew from that night onwards. Below are some notes… in all honesty, partially taken from other websites and material which I have found to be helpful regarding this incredibly important theme.

REMEMBER our eternal life is at stake if we get this wrong (the WARNINGS are there throughout the entire New Testament)! I will include a number of relevant scriptures which would be incumbent upon the reader to deeply and prayerfully ponder.

Further study on the theme:

Partially taken from this link -

The reason why false teachers, who deny one or more of the core doctrines of the Faith, gain so many followers is that they are saying what the world wants to hear.  They organize their churches so that they cater to unbelievers, and once non-Christians come in they are fed a diet devoid of the essential nutrition of the Gospel and sound doctrine. False teachers have even been known to conduct surveys to see what non-believers are looking for in a "church" and then provide those things.  False teachers claim they are bringing people into the Kingdom when in fact they are bringing them out of the world and back into the world, the only difference now being that they are spending their money in support of some apostate leader and/or group.

John saw the false teachers of his day and has taught us how to recognise the difference between those who have the Spirit of truth and those who have a spirit of falsehood. Yes, there is such a thing as a spirit of falsehood!  One of the marks of the spirit of falsehood is that they gain many followers from the world because their message is not really different from the world.  Those who speak the truth in love, however, can expect to be rejected most of the time.  Not all the time, but most of the time.  There is no sugar coating to this concept.  Few will follow the narrow road and enter the narrow gate (Matt. 7:13-14).  Those who have the spirit of falsehood are so successful because they have dumbed-down the Gospel and do not teach the truth about man's condition of sin, needing repentance and belief that Jesus Christ is Lord.  They teach what people want to hear, and the Bible foretold long ago that people would want myths and fables.

2 Tim 4:3-4 - For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.

So called Christian teachers today are happy to tell stories of healings and dead raisings which they have not verified and do not care to verify.  Their followers, assuming their teacher would only tell the truth, spread these lies even further.  And so the cycle perpetuates itself.  Yet the Bible is clear that true believers check to see they are telling the truth because unrepentant liars don't go to heaven.

Rev 21:8 -  But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.

Yet followers of the false teachers, that the world love, will hear nothing negative about their idols.  They become very angry and verbally abusive of any hint at the unbiblical practices and lies of their heroes.  I could share with you hundreds of emails to prove my point.  Thankfully a few have been saved out from under the spell of false teachers because they were finally able, with the help of the Spirit and the Word, to wake up from their fable-induced haze to reality.  I also have hundreds of emails of those who have come to their senses.  But they are in the vast minority.  Those who say they are Christians but have not left the world are clearly not interested in the facts.  They are interested in their feelings.

2 Tim 3:1 - This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.

Those who have spent any time with the new generation of pleasure lovers in the Church understand that, ultimately, you have to "have nothing to do with them".  They are self-deceived and have no real love of the truth.

2 Thes 2:9-10 -  Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,  And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.

You can claim you are saved all you want, but if you don't have a love of the Truth then you are clearly not regenerate.  Those who have the Spirit of truth, by virtue of being born again, show a love of the truth and will turn and repent when they are presented with the facts.  Those who claim to be followers of Christ yet will not turn from disobedience to the Word of God when warned and instead cling to their feelings or some experience they have had, are pretenders (fake).  This is a time of testing for all those who claim to be Christians.  If you cannot tolerate the truth and speak the truth, then you have no part in Christ and His Holy Spirit.

Acts 8:21 - Thou hast neither part nor lot in this matter: for thy heart is not right in the sight of God.

These words, spoken to Simon Magus by Peter, ring true today.  There are many Simon the Sorcerers in the churches today who follow after signs and wonders for fame and fortune.  Those who follow them do not have a heart that is right before God.

REPENT!  Repent and turn from your evil ideas, your evil associations, your evil false apostles, your evil false prophets, your evil false Christs, your evil false teachers.  If you don't believe that these people are evil, then you don't know how God perceives them.

2 Cor 11:12 -  But what I do, that I will do, that I may cut off occasion from them which desire occasion; that wherein they glory, they may be found even as we. For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.

Repent and recognise that you may be involved in a church or ministry that appeals to the world but is not teaching the truth.  Stop relying on your feelings to guide you, and start searching the Word of God, asking the Holy Spirit for discernment.  Stop listening to false teachers who teach you that discernment and doctrine are bad things.  Admit that you may have been deceived, for that is the beginning of your salvation.

Below is a list of just a few of the false teachers that I know of personally – this list is no way exhaustive – there are PLENTY more! A rule of thumb I have for myself and my family is the following… and it is quite simple. I ALWAYS view any newly discovered preacher with some caution to begin with. I ask myself does he preach from the Bible – is there ANY aspect of his teaching that is not to be found in the Bible (eg: Bill Johnson and the “gold dust falling from heaven” or people gaining miraculous gold fillings where they had cavities in their teeth)? Such examples are NOT seen in the Bible and therefore I am immediately alerted… then doing a little further research and one will quickly see further fruit to attest to their falsehood. I am aware of such verses in the Bible that state “charity/love thinketh no evil” (1 Cor 13:5) – it is not that I want to think evil, but TOO MUCH IS AT STAKE to be too naïve and trusting. The real Godly preachers understand this and no offence is taken.

Dangerous Preachers (alive today - avoid at all costs):

Ken Legg – false teacher (teaching eternal grace - once saved always saved)

Bill Johnson – false teacher - shocking link -

Joel Osteen – false teacher - shocking link -

Andrew Wommack – false teacher - shocking link -

Benny Hinn – false teacher - shocking link -

Remember - women are to remain silent in the church:

Heidi Baker – false teacher - shocking link -

Joyce Mayer – false teacher - shocking link -

Paula White – false teacher - shocking link -

Women preachers (and pastors):

I absolutely do not like to go to a church where women are allowed to preach. This is becoming more and more commonplace and it is very wrong. So unless the woman is teaching other women or perhaps sharing testimonies about what God is doing in her life (for example Jackie Pullinger gets it right I think – she talks mainly about her life and work) it is expressly forbidden for women to teach/preach in the church. So ALL women teachers/preachers to a crowd of mixed people are not correct and this should raise a red flag to avoid this particular church.

1 Tim 2:12 - But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.

1 Cor 14:34 - Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience, as also saith the law.

1 Tim 2:11 - Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection.

For further information which I found very helpful and well explained - see this link below à

On the other hand….

I will also now list some preachers that I personally like and find that they stick to the Bible. I like what a friend once told me regarding sound preachers/teachers… like eating a melon – we eat the fruit, but spit out the pips. Only Jesus was perfect (without sin) – so naturally there may be the odd thing where some of our “favourite preachers” may fall short – or where they get things a bit wrong. We can live with minor short-comings, but NOT with those that teach false doctrines. Remember also to keep checking what they preach – just because they preach/teach well this year… they are also prone to compromise – so always check them against the Bible. Be like the Bereans:

Acts 17:11 - These (Bereans) were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.

The good preachers below - again this list is not exhaustive and if I would add all the ones I like, then it would be very long indeed.

Good Preachers (alive today):

I cannot vouch for every part of their lives, but they preach sound doctrine to the best of my knowledge at the time of writing this.

Torben Sondergaard – see:

Curry Blake – Teaches mainly on healing (stunning personal testimonies) -

Paul Washer – preaches a clear and Godly message – see:

Gary Carpenter – see:

Reinhard Bonnke – CFAN (Christ For All Nations) – see:

John Bevere – seems to preach pure scripture (has a book called “Bait of Satan”). I have heard that the book is very good, but I have not yet read it, but I will do soon. See:

Christian Church Discipline (the book by Lewi Petrus):

This book is not easy to get a hold of, but it is an excellent book from a man who was used mightily of God. This book outlines the absolute need to have a clear distinction between God’s church on earth and the world – in other words the Christians and the unsaved. I have a kind of homemade copy. I treasure this precious little book.

What the Bible Says AboutWater Baptism - Sprinkling - Or Immersion?

A Challenge to be Saved God's Way, the Only Way!

MATTHEW 3:16 John the Baptist was led by the Holy Ghost to set the method of baptism in this scripture: "And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water...(Baptize in the Greek means 'to immerse' or 'dip', NOT SPRINKLE!)

MATTHEW 28:19-20   "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I (Jesus) have commanded you..."

MARK 16:16-18   "He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved... And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; they shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover."

JOHN 3:23   John was baptizing in Aenon. Why? "...because there was much water there..."

ACTS 2:38   Peter said: "Repent, and be baptized... and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost."

ACTS 8:12   "But when they believed Philip preaching the things concerning the kingdom of God, and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women."

ACTS 8:36,38   "...and they went down both into the water... and he baptized him." (No sprinkling here. Sprinkling is a man-made, unscriptural teaching.)

ACTS 10:47-48 Cornelius and his friends had just received the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues: Peter "commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord."

ACTS 18:8 "And Crispus, the chief ruler of the synagogue, believed on the Lord with all his house; and many of the Corinthians hearing believed, and were baptized."

ACTS 22:16   "And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord."

ROMANS 6:4-5 "Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection." (As the Holy Spirit raised Jesus from the tomb).

COLOSSIANS 2:12 "Buried with him in baptism..."

1 PETER 3:21 "The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us..."

LUKE 6:46 "And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?"

ACTS 2:37-40 "Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do? Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call. And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation."

False Teachers – The Subtle Dangers!

Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly

they are ravening wolves.
Matt 7:15
