...And he said unto them, Go ye into all the
world, and preach the gospel to every creature.
Jackie Pullinger is the founder of the organisation known as the St Stephen’s Society.
St Stephen’s Society exists to preach the gospel, reach the poor and see people set free through faith in Jesus Christ. Our heart is to go to the ends of the earth to make disciples.
Jackie came from England to Hong Kong over 40 years ago. She started sharing the love of Jesus Christ with gangsters and the poor in the Kowloon Walled City. She began to see them set free from drug addiction and start new lives. Today, many of the people who met Jesus and came off drugs in Hong Kong have gone to other countries in Asia to share what Jesus has done.
We are still dealing with all kinds of addictions. We have several homes where those with such problems can come, meet Jesus, be set free and healed, and learn what it is to follow Him.
Our heart is not that they stay and live with us, but that once they have tasted of His sweetness, they will go to the ends of the earth to share what they have tasted. So now, we have those who have gone out from here, live in the poorest countries of Asia and the Indian Subcontinent and share the Gospel with those who have not yet heard.
JACKIE PULLINGER... Chasing The Dragon!
Jackie Pullinger is an inspiration for us. She is not someone who just gives the theory. She has "been there and done it" or rather she is still DOING IT!
A total non-compromiser! Leading people to Christ and making DISCIPLES!!
In her book, Chasing the Dragon, Jackie Pullinger tells of being called by God to Hong Kong to work amongst the prostitutes and drug addicts living in the notorious walled city. Though fearful for her own safety, daily she would try to make contact with people who lived in some of the worst conditions one could imagine. But after six months little had been achieved and despair set in.
She agonized about it for days. "If God has called me to be here why aren't people responding?" One morning she realized what was wrong. She'd been telling people that God loves them and that Jesus loves them and wants to forgive them but she'd not been loving them in any practical way. She needed to go and be as Jesus, with them. The next three months she spent, "soaking herself in scripture and prayer - and being drenched by the Holy Spirit!" Her new and very practical approach yielded a remarkable response. Providing food, shelter and healthcare, visiting prisons, speaking up for victims, these became the ingredients of her everyday life. The situation was so transformed that even the drug barons watched out for her safety. She's still there and so is the church that grew from her work but the Walled City isn't. It was demolished ten years ago.
Jackie tells her story of how she came to Hong Kong:
... but I realised it didn't mean anything to him
unless I did it.
WARNING TO CHRISTIANS
This clip above could seriously
change you life!
Here is a link to a guy called Dan Mohler. He brings across (in a very easy to understand manner) the fundamental teaching on who we are in Christ.
Really it is worth checking this one out. It was so refreshing for us and a great inspiration. Listening to the basic message he preaches brings one closer to Christ and removes any feeling of unworthiness or condemnation.
As you might gather Dan is the one who sowed the seed of God’s Word into Todd White. The two of them are best friends. Dan is a Pastor of "Neck Ministries" (see details and link below).
